The Long-eared Owl was 273 (=) and the dark Barn Owl 283 (+3) gram. The Goshawk was 812 (+3), the Kestrel 196 (+1) and the red Sparrowhawk 258 (+2) gram. The Rock Dove was 254 (+5) gram. Tortoises: the home-bred was 67 (+4) and the other 83 (+4) gram. So today for the first time since ages all patients were (in the plus” !! The skin-flap on “Earl Grey’s” foot is hanging a lot at this moment > let’s try if we can do something today. We have promised keeping you informed about the “motherly joy” in the window-frame of the 2nd floor of our house: today in an early sunshine both 4-days old babies were cleaning their fluffy feathers while mother was doing a little turn around.
We have tried getting the Dark Barn Owl a bit more active by transferring him for the morning-hours together with the Long-eared Owl to “
The Keep”. However this worked out counterproductively (although they didn’t fight together), because at the midday-feeding-round they both refused to eat !! In the evening this was normal again. At 4.45 p.m. arrived the two new trainees Anne Diepenhorst and Dick Lock.
